Litter Tray Leeks
« on: April 13, 2009, 16:14 »
I've just sown my leeks a la DD's litter tray method...

It says on the packet they can be sown in beds outside now.

Are my litter tray leeks better off on the floor of the cold greenhouse (I have no staging in there yet)..... outside on my patio...... or sitting in the bottom of my little plastic greenhouse in the garden (where they are now).

Do they need protection?

Thanks in advance  :)

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.

I could give up chocolate but I'm not a quitter.

Just a thought, is a litter tray deep enough for leeks?
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

This is only to grow the seedlings on, for later planting out.

Given that you can sow them outside now, they need no protection.

I start them off in a cold greenhouse to give them a bit of a boost, but not too much, then move them outside when about 3" high.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ooooh.. the oracle himself replied ;)

Given your wise words I think I'll leave them in the little plastic greenhouse until they germinate and then they can sit on the patio table - as long as the cats don't get the wrong ideas!!!

Many thanks DD.
