I have two walk in runs which I used to keep poultry in at the allotment. I now keep the chickens at home due to not being able to get to the plot twice a day to tend to them.

I’m planning on using one as a fruit cage but does anyone have any ideas on how I could turn the second into a polytunnel?

I would have thought it reasonable straightforward to cover it with polytunnel-cover plastic from one of the big suppliers. The issue will come in including ventilation along the sides perhaps? I would also try to include a second door at the far end, to help airflow in the warmer weather

Does that help, or have I just made unnecessary issues for you?

As long as you measure carefully and leave enough to tuck right into the soil all around (apart from doors of course!) I am sure it would be worth a try. I think one manufacturer of such material even has a ready reckoner on their site. I don't know which one but it might be worth a browse.. you don't have to buy from them of course

Sorry for hijacking this old post but did u manage to convert your old run into a polytunnel?
I ask as I have inherited a plot with a run and bought it would be a good option.

If you were successful could you tell me what poly wrap u went for and how you might have wrapped it around the ends?

I think a polytunnel is normally 2 foot extra for burying all the way round. It is worth buying from a polytunnel supplier. Also buy hot tape for the frame.
