Post by: Davemullen on December 03, 2018, 17:43
Hi Dave here, New member.
Seeking advice. Started to pickle red cabbage today and when I cut into it the inside of the leaves was covered in white scaly nodules, wonder if anybody know . a/ what they are. b/ are they edible?

Hi  :)

There are insect pests that can leave shed skins, but they are generally on the undersides of the outer leaves.  Those will rub off fairly easily, but from your post, it reads as if you have hard white lumps within the body of the leaves on your crop ?

A picture will really help to pin down what it is  :)

There are several causes of white nodules on brassicas and a good site to visit is RHS to see if anything looks similar to what you have. Piccie please..
