Ah, that's very helpful, many thanks, Anne! Just out of interest, what variety do you grow? I have some Champion of England in modules, but it's the first time I've grown tall peas.

I have grown Champion of England very successfully on it.  Other tall ones I have tried include Sutton's Purple Podded, which also did very well and Lord Leicester (not so good in my view).   This year I am trying Magnum Bonum on one side and Magnolia Blossom Tendril (a sugar snap) on the other.

Then there's the medium tall peas elsewhere..... I like peas rather a lot!
