Dust baths...sand?
« on: March 27, 2008, 13:13 »
I have yet to give my chooks somewhere to have a dust bath, and am setting off to sort something out this afternoon, but was wondering what should go in it? Yesterday we sold our fish tank and now have loads of surplus sand (not the fine stuff, more like granules), would this be ok to use dried out and mixed in with some dirt from the garden? Or should we use something else?  :?
Thanks,
Daisy

Hi Daisycow

I used a sand/soil mix and my girls love it, although they do seem to enjoy eating most of the sand!

If it's to go in their run in a container use a deep one, they splash about a lot
