Male or female who takes what role on the plot
« on: May 08, 2013, 18:31 »
Just wondered who does what on your plot.

Any wee killing spray was done by me.
Marking out bed design by me.
Plot design done by me.
The big digging at the start hubby did.
Raised beds he made with my supervision  ::)
Carried to the plot was a joint job.
Planting tends to be hubby.
Weeding almost always my job.
Watering always my job.
Pruning always mine, I'd have nothing left otherwise
Fence was joint I held the post while he smacked them with a sledge hammer  I tried the sledge hammer but after my first miss we decided he liked his arms to much.
Harvesting usually done by me.
Sitting down on the job (well you have to admire your efforts every once in a while)
Planting seeds, joint although for some reason he likes filling the modules but won't sow the seeds, he says they are too small to pick up. ( I wonder if that's why I have no cabbage) again.

Who buys the beer, wine, or makes the tea?
Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

Usually hubby for 80% of the time but that's because he drinks the same amount of tea in a day as a man of 100 in a care home. I honestly can say our kettle is never cold. It's on rapid boil all the time, they joke with him at work saying he needs a typhoo iv put in.  is there such a thing as too much tea he probably drinks 20 cups a day.

I do it all myself with a bit of help occasionally from my son. My wifey has loads to do herself as we are self employed and she does the housework.. so I grow and cook, she eats..
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

I do most everything. My husband helps when forced - he helped clear the rubbish into a skip and onto bonfire at the weekend but then left me to it once the digging got started. I don't mind - I love it  :) :)

For me it's a way to relax. I don't think I'd like him interferring too much  :nowink:

When talking to Mr S I refer to it as our plot but it's in my name & I do it all mostly. He hates gardening unless it's with a gallon of fuel  :D He rotorvates when I asked,& will build me things if I drop heavy hints. I too wouldn't want too much 'help'

up until last year it was 100% me however now it is a 50-50 split.  OH has become interested since we did a plot swap or is the 6 GKids which swayed her to do more  ;)

I do pretty much 100% because I got quite fed up with frequent: 'I thought you said that WAS a weed. How am I supposed to know what a tomato/pepper/celery/parsley/potato/cucumber/bean/pea plant looks like?'

Me too  :D

(or should that be I?  )
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

99% me on my plot.  Hubby is disabled so physically unable to help, his contribution is the 1% supervision to ensure everything is on track!!    ;)

I do all the plotting, planting, growing, harvesting, weeding and generally spread the love (and muck!) around.  OH does some heavy work for me - strims my big plot, digs the plots over and is currently constructing paths.  He's also quite could at scavenging bits 'n' pieces from his workplace for me and will help me water in times of need.  OH does find it compulsory to plant at least one row of potatoes though every year but that is all he will plant
