This is a naive question but what type of sand would you use on the garden?

What exactly do you want the sand for? There are many grades of sand out there. Being specific would hep people advise you.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.

Sorry, you can see the problem. I want to add it to soil to improve the drainage.

horticultural sharp sand not builders sharp sand (guess who bought the wrong one once...)

Buying in bulk is MUCH cheaper than bag by bag...

Thank you for that, it's an area I know nothing about.  You know we all make mistakes and over the years I've made some pretty big ones. ???

If I recall correctly builders' sand has different properties / reactions when wet, from hortic sand.  One clumps badly or something similar.  I've always read advice against using building sand in the garden to improve structure etc.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Ooops. I've just used a bag of Builders Sharp Sand that I had left over! So is it only formation of clumps that I should worry about? Or are there other horrors in store for me?
