lawn help
« on: February 18, 2013, 15:54 »
Hi Every one, wasnt yesterday a gorgeous day.

Well after tiding up my lawn yesterday its a right mess.  Its ben ruined over winter from too much rain, children playing, pets running round and being covered in parts by thing (like a trampoline).  In places it is very bald and still a bit muddy, I have fine raked it and therefore my question is.

How do I get it back to a nice bit of grass, I dont need bowling green standard due to the grandchildren and pets, but I want grass in the bald bits.

Any advice welcome.

Many thanks and happy gardening

Juliec

You could sprinkle grass seed on the bald bits and cover the seeded bits with soil, then try and keep children and pets off those bits until they grow. I wouldn't do it yet though, its not warm enough. :)

and if you can keep the birds off it as they will eat the seed, you will have some nice green grass again by the beginning of the summer  :D

Wood pigeons do get used the bird scarer items pretty quickly, so you might want to vary them

Or use netting stretched over hoops
