MOVING lEEKS
« on: February 26, 2006, 13:58 »
Hi
I planted some leeks i  July/ aug last year just to see if they would work as i was pretty new. they are noe 1/2 in thick and 12" high - i would like to move them to my new plot - is this possible without damaging or killing them if so how?

Thanks
Dave

Hi David

I doubt it to be honest. What I'd suggest you do is sow some leek seeds now or soon, even in deep pots or troughs and then transplant those into dibbed holes come next June / July.

As for your existing leeks,  thin leeks go well diced in stir firies and can be frozen so I'd harvest them before moving on.
