I have just been renovating a Mountfield Emporer 21" mower. All has gone well .....except I am left with a small right- angled bracket which has a slotted hole on the longer of the 2 arms and signs of wear the same width as the drive belt on the shorter one. However, I cannot for the life of me see from where I removed this bracket as there are no obvious positions, bolt holes or even any bolts left over!!

If any one has any ideas or a similar model that could be checked I'd be most grateful.

Thanks - been there already. Have actually discovered the answer - it fits on one of the rear roller's bearing retainer bolts and is a guard to retain the drive belt from flipping off the roller drive wheel when slack ie when drive is not engaged.

hi that model of mountfield is now obsolete parts are difficult to find the new mountfields arent a patch on them, the new emperor is a cylinder mower made by masport in newzealand its the only way masport can get machinery into the UK under european trading laws.masport rotary mowers are a good replacement for mountfields when they wear out . engines are main problem as side drive is no longer available   jezza
