Just cut some of the bottom ones off, they are probably looking a bit yellow by now anyway.  Definately do NOT cut them all off.  A bit more light will help them ripen.

i did this earlier this week after being told by one of 'the old ens' on the plot and i aslo saw it on gardeners world. you dont take off all the leaves just any yellowing ones and any that are stoping the sunlight getting to the toms on the plant. i had loads of green toms in my greenhouse and not had many red ones but once i removed the leaves covering my toms (not many leaves left on mine now) after a couple of days i had got loads of red toms so i do think it works and will be doing it again next year!

After reading what ice put, its made me a bit concerned because after seeing a picture on a website i stripped all the leaves off  not all at once though, they've taking ages to go red this year.

So is there any possible thing that would happen to the plant or tomatoes?

If you've stripped ALL the leaves off any small tomatoes left will probably not get any larger.  Tomatoes recieve nutrients from the leaves above them I believe.

Nothing else serious will happen.

I love green tomatoes sliced and fried with a little salt and sugar sprinkled on them during cooking - Lovely with a eggs and bacon.
