Mains power to Battery power Help Please :)
« on: February 03, 2009, 13:55 »
Hiya, I need some advice pleeaase :)  Titch's eggs need you  :D

I have my incubator on with eggs in - now the power peeps want to turn the power off for 4 hours

Incy is run through a transformer details on it below:

Soooo I'm thinking of buying a new car / caravan battery. I have spare wire with the correct attachment for the incy so if I attach some crocodile clips to that and attach to battery will it work ???
This was Rob's advice in the Titch thread -

Yes, just cut the wires, bare the ends and attach the crocs to teh ends. If you could get an inline fuse carrier from a car shop, you could solder it inline with a 3A or so fuse just to protect your incy. Any shorts and it could melt the wires and the circuit board with it.

If you need any advice on putting it all together, there's plenty on here can help. I only know what I know, but I'm no expert. Might be worth checking on the D&C or Equip Shed forum before going ahead.

Will this do what I need to keep the incy running for the 4 hours???

OR

Could I just put the battery in the caravan and plug whole thing directly in to a plug in there  ???

Would love to get this sorted by the weekend :)

Many Many thanks in advance of any replies :)

Sarah :D

Didn't think about the sockets in the caravan !!

That'll do it. ;)

Never look for the simple solution when there's the chance of playign with bits of wire and a soldering iron  :D

Wish I was about 200 miles further West. Can only offer sympathy and a few half-baked ideas from here.

Someone's digging up our road abotu 30 yards along but I don't know who it is. This time of year we don't need interruptions.
