Batten down the hatches on Wednesday.
« on: September 25, 2023, 09:01 »
The forecast for Wednesday is rather stormy to say the least, at least it is for me oop norf and glad I don't live where I used to did as it is open to all the elements, and also the wind is coming from the south west, so hopefully it's not a high tide or the sea wall could be breached.  ??? Methinks my garden chairs and cushions might have to be moved round the back. What's going to happen with my large-flowered Begonias is anyone's guess.  :(
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Bad luck if they have, actually, got your forecast right (for a change) nothing nasty forecast for the SE, for now, anyway.

Yes, even further oop north, I'll be on edge until Thursday. Thank Heavens I had a couple of 200 year-old beech trees thinned out at their crowns a couple of weeks ago. Cost a fortune but hopefully well worth it if they stay where they are

All they say for us is, 'cloudy'!

'Storm' Agnes has been 'named', ahead of 'Waft William' and 'Droplet David'...

No doubt the Beeboid weather-site and news will have deep crimson letters in bold text, with dire warnings of the country blowing away towards Finland, and how the planet is becoming uninhabitable because we actually populate the place and have to actually light a few fires and drive occasionally to live!

We joke all the time when we're driving up  the Military Road which runs up the West Coast of the Island and we can't see the Mainland (or Big Island, as we call it here) they've floated off again.    Somedays when we can see bits we say 'how nice of you to join us'.  We're only joined to you by the PLUTO line, so sever that and I could be blown away, hopefully to warmer climes.  :D

Just looked up the Pluto line and I see what you mean! We're in the yellow zone warning so am not taking it lightly. At least if it's not as bad as forecast I'd rather it that way than t'other.

There have been a couple of dozen yellow thunderstorm warnings for this area so far this year, and all I've heard so far is a single distant rumble of thunder.  ::)

I daresay it's part of Michael Fish's legacy from 1987, but it's not really helpful when the Met Office errs so much on the side of caution that few people take much notice of weather warnings any more, or at least the yellow ones...

Looks ok here in the south at present.
However it encouraged me to cut my lawn which was somewhat out of control due to my sciatica. Pleased that it now looks vaguely presentable.
Keep digging

Well, that was an Agnes in a tea-cup. A few small branches down in my wood, no power-cuts and not even the wheelie-bins blown over

Looks like we are in for some more wind!
Need to take down my bean support this afternoon before it flies away.

I''ll just sit her in my bikini, sunning myself as according to the forecasts we're too far south. I've heard that before and put the bikini I haven't worn for about 40  years back in the drawer.  The wind gusting round the corner where the little bedroom is last night kept me awake.  Paul has a C-paK machine and sometimes  the whosh noise it makes disturbs my sleepl

Once again North Wiltshire has been forgotten by the 'wild weather'.
Quite a bit of rain but no structural or tree damage.
Update, Wednesday 01/11/2023.  One flash of lightening, one clap of thunder, some rain and a few hailstones.

Cheers,  Tony. 8)

There has been nothing too serious going on here either.  Mrs B
