Can anyone help with ID on this plant.  It was bought as a day lilly which it isn't. Its the two clumps with the spikey leaves and the spires of white and yellow flowers.

Many thanks, Dawn

Looks like sisyrinchium (sp.?).

We have a garden full of them and they look just like them.

They're related to the iris, hence the sword shaped, upright leaves in a flat fan pattern.

We gave away a couple of wheelbarrow loads of them a couple of months back to make room for veg.
They're one of my favourite plants we have. My wife hates them !

your plant is deffinately from the iris family, to divide it for more plants just chop the tubas in half

I love it but it is very invasive. My Mother hated it it used to appear the minute she turned her back (apparently!)
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!

Thank you all for your replies.  Glad to hear that I will be able to divide it easily as we still have a lot of space to fill. Our long periods of heat and drought here will probably keep it from being too invasive. Its been flowering now non-stop for about 2 months so its certainly earning its keep!

I have one growing in my compost heap I threw it away as there was lots of it.  Does look quite pretty in flower.
