My fingers are crossed tightly and hope you can salvage something. It's not any consolation but down south overnight they had floodings and hailstones like you, so there may be others on here with the same problem.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Just over a week ago, I reported that my broccoli crop had been completely levelled by a massive freak hailstorm. That was the gospel truth.  So far as I was concerned, the whole lot was completely wiped out.  I considered pulling up what was left of the plants, but I didn't.  I just removed the many broken-off leaves and left the flattened plants where they were, just on the off chance.

Weirdly, they do seem to have perked up a bit.   It's too early to tell whether or not I will actually get a crop, but it is now occurring to me that I just might get something for the table.

Any thoughts?

Can you see any heads developing? Purple sprouting also produces shoots lower down at the point where the leaves meet the stem.

I remember you saying the plants are at least a metre tall. They might appreciate some support to help them cope.

Snoop - no - there is no signs yet of any heads coming through: there are still new, tiny leaves unfurling from the centres.

When you say some support, were you thinking of canes?

Can you stake them? My broccoli had a bit of a lie-down last year but were really happy to have something solid to lean on.

Yup, I can try some stakes.  Cheers!
