Grow Your Own / Re: Copper Mesh

I used to have these copper rings around my Delphinium plants in my last garden to keep the slugs off, seemed to work well :)

Sorry, I don't know anything about the copper mesh, but it seems worth a try - nothing ventured nothing gained  :D

It doesn't always work, but worth a try. Good luck!

Chard, green onions from cheapo sets planted last autumn and red ones from clearance bargain sets planted a few months ago. I grew them both to have as giant ‘spring’ onions. Asparagus from the garden buried at the back  :)

The serious diet started two days ago.  Today will be chicken drumsticks, salad and maybe some rice.

Grow Your Own / Cucumber plant stem damaged.
« Last post by omits on Today at 12:31 »
I have a cucumber plant and the stem has been half chewed by a **** slug.  :( I'm asking if I can bury below the damage and expect it to re-root?  PS, it's still healthy. Thanks.

Grow Your Own / Copper Mesh
« Last post by omits on Today at 12:28 »
I see the idea in the newsletter about copper for slug control. Research shows copper mesh is cheaper. I have the idea that this could be buried around the plant OR perhaps better still (reusable) wrapped and (stuck!) around a pot with the bottom cut off.

Anyone used copper and/or mesh for this purpose (before I buy yet another useless idea!)?

Thanks.

Waitawhile had run out of leeks

They've started selling packs of frozen sliced - not as good as fresh, but good enough in a pinch and easier to keep in.

Leftover chickpea and spinach curry and the last of the long grain rice.

Sorry if this has been touched on, but an article I read recently commented on Highgrove`s gardener suggesting similar to the `beer` method, alternatively using a mixture of small amounts of sugar and died yeast with water in pots with the rim at ground level.
 Anyone tried this?
