Lost chicken!!
« on: October 31, 2010, 20:21 »
I went to put my girls away earlier and one had got al little impatient and managed to get over the electric fence and gone missing( unless she did a runner when I opened the gate on the way up to the henhouse!)  I spent the next 35 minutes searching for her until my torch gave out - but no sign, my husband and son have searched too in the dark, in their favourite places in the barns and the woods - but no sign :(
I do really hope she manages to find somewhere safe and appears in the morning - is this likely do you think?

She has probably found a nice safe roost and will be back rosey in the morning non the worse for her adventure.. I occasionally have this happen and the hen is there to greet me first thing.

Thank you it's nice to see that it's happened to others and there has been good news!!
I will be out extra early in the morning to see if she is about.  I'm glad we are in for a warmer night as she has no tail feathers and would get a very cold rump...

have just got back from the chooks and Blondie was there in her electric pen waiting for me - I don't know where she has been, but it has rained all night so I suspect here scent was washed away.
My boys are going to be so happy too................ :)

PHEW that's good news. I nearly shut one of mine out one evening and for the next few evenings I had to open the side of the ark up to do a head count before I was satisfied.

glad she is ok, best make sure tonight that she has gone in otherwise she may take a liking to sleeping rough (14 of mine do and it is murder to get them  ::) ).
