Seed Potatoes

We have dug the first of this years potatoes - good number underneath and very tasty. However the seed potato is still there and feeling very firm. I thought that the seed potato would have disappeared as the new ones grew. Could we replant it for another crop later on?

Don't think so. It has done its job and will rot. But try one ... I have been wrong before !! (awaits smart-ass replies)
