silly questions oops
« on: September 01, 2008, 13:12 »
Right we all know i'm daft with the questions i ask so here's a few more for you unfortunate peeps. I know i'm a pain but would be grateful for any advice / pointers off anyone, thanks in advance Kerry

1) Just sowed some carrots in my mini cold frame / greenhouse thingy today, was going put potatoes in but my blighted tomatoes were in it till Saturday, and i didnt think it would be a good idea to put them in. On the packets it says they fast growing and can sown till Late July. So my question is, will i be able to leave the carrots in the cold frame over the coming winter ready for Christmas day. It has a lid which i can put up or down whenever needed. Or is it just a bad idea all round?

2) Just sowed more Cauliflower (all year round), swedes, savoy and spring cabbages in a seed tub. Is they anything i should do with them between now and transplanting. All my others were decimated by slugs :(

3)Would i be able to grow peas and broccoli calabrese in a plastic greenhouse thingy over winter?

Again thanks for looking, Kerry

What variety are the carrots?, I think you should be able to grow carrots as long as there is no frost in there.

Hi garddwr, thanks for replying so quickly, the variety of carrots i just sowed are called early nantes 5.
The place they are in does get pretty hot so hopefully no frost should get in.
Do you think i should invest in a fleece to ward off the cold in later months?
