Hello,

I have some San Marzano tomatoes grown from seed in my unheated greehouse.
The greenhouse gets about 4 hours of morning sun, and then is in shade. It is well ventilated.
My other variety of toms are experiencing no problems.

The San Marzano's are about 5 inches tall, but the newer leaves have started to look a bit deformed and go yellow.
They are in 3 inch pots, and kept moist, but not overwatered.

Anybody got any ideas ?
Thanks for any help.

Are they planted in compost - and is it the same compost as the other tomatoes?

Could they simply be rootbound in the pots and need potting on?

Are you feeding them with anything?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes they are compost, and no its not the same as the ones doing OK.
I'm not feeding them.
They are not rootbound.

Assuming it's ordinary multi-purpose compost, and given that all the other environmental factors are the same as for the other tomatoes, I do wonder whether it's a compost / feeding thing.

The plants aren't yet producing flowers so you might try a general purpose liquid feed, like seaweed or something similar.

Mind you, I don't specifically recognise the symptoms so someone else may be more sure of what is wrong.

(I also assume that the compost didn't have any manure added?)

Its normal multi-purpose B&Q compost.
I also just noticed there is a slight leaf curl too.

Don't panic mine are doing exactly the same thing..............i don't think it's anything to worry about...just one of those time of year things and i'm sure they'll sort themselves out.

( I have some in the soil in the polytunnel only improved with some home made compost, some in the greenhouse border improved with chicken manure pellets, and some in pots of multi purp.....and they are all doing the same thing )

I've got San Marzano in pots outside in a very sheltered south facing bit of garden. They've  been out for a week but compared to other varieties mine seem a bit pale- I just assumed it was the variety.
