Thank you, Joyfull!  It seems I stand corrected and all anyone can do for it is to keep giving their chickens medicine over and over to prevent it. 

I apologize for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong, as I don't seem to understand the health issues you guys deal with over there in the UK in your livestock.  It seems to be a scary proposition to even keep chickens at all over there, so I applaud you all in your attempts in doing so, though considering the health risks of it all I'm not sure I'd be so brave.

dont feel that way Beekissed, over there you have more room and perhaps not many keep both turkeys and chickens on the same ground so these problems may not be as frequent as here. I only know because Grannie Annie used to raise turkeys for Christmas then she had to treat the ground and thoroughly clean her poultry sheds before getting chicks in there, and another friend had a pet turkey that lived with her chickens so she had to worm at least once a month to keep blackhead at bay.
