Hi do Chickens and Rabbits get on?
« on: August 05, 2010, 17:32 »
Am new to the site and would love to get 3 chickens, but we have 4 rabbits.  They are usually let out 1 at a time most days (weather permitting).  Would they all get on together.
Thanks for any help

We don't have pet rabbits, but there are lots of wild ones around, in the garden (!) and the enclosed area around the coop. The hens and rabbits seem to be quite happy together and can be seen happily defoliating the world together. HTH.

My pet rabbits and chickens live in one enclosure together and they get on absolutely fine =)
They pretty much just avoid each other, a rabbit will occasionally chase a chicken playfully, but the chickens easily get out of their way.
4 Dogs: Stanley, Oscar, Borris and Scraps, 8 chickens: Prada, Mulberry, Alessi, Apple, Dior, Bobbi, Eve and Fendi, 2 Guinea Pigs: Rupert and Milo, 3 Rabbits: Louis, Daisy and Charlie 2 Fish: Sandy and Pebbles, 6 Quail

Thanks, that good news.  Would hate open war fare. We have a wee pom that likes to try play (chase) the bunnies, they just turn round and growl at her. 1 even chased her back
into the house. Well they are much bigger and heavier the she is LoL .

Hi there, just a bit of advice, we had my daughters rabbit in with our chickens and one of our cockerels actually pecked her eye which led to a nasty infection, blind in that eye and then she died a couple of days later and she was also in a very large run!! Just keep an eye out !! Please excuse me, no pun intended!!

I had heard that hens go for the eyes for no other reason that they are black and shiney :(

Maybe you could get the bunnies goggles ;)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!
