A sitting goose

We have a goose and a gander, both now about 11 months old.  They have mated and the goose has laid 16 eggs.  She has now gone broody and has started to sit.  She sits all nght and about 50% of daytime hours.

Is this normal behaviour? Can we expect her to successfully hatch the eggs?

We understand that first year birds are not successful parents but is she on the right track?

I checked the eggs today and they are cold.  I guess that is a bad sign.  The goose has been harf hertedly sitting for 2 weeks.

Is there anything i can do?  Is she likely to do better next year?
