Title: Chickens and rabbits
Post by: ness on July 12, 2007, 20:44
Hi
Another inane question from me!  I have 2 netherland dwarf rabbits and am planning 2 get 2 sussex bantams in the near future.  I am constructing housing and run for the chooks, but my life would be made easier if the rabbits and chook can go in the run together (not housed together).  Its not a prob if they can't.

i have seen them housed together the ones i know of lived together for years, personaly i havent tryed it but i carnt realy see a problem as long as you think about it first ie dont have the chickens roost over the top of the rabbits or the rabbits will be like statues are, poo on the head lol.

Thanks for your reply.  A friend told me that its even beneficial as the rabbits have a calming affect on the chooks.  They would have a really big run together but have separate housing (hopefully preventing the statue affect    ).  The only problem is I have seen my boy rabbit rupert "see off" a seagull.  Not sure a chook would be too chuffed at that sort of behaviour.
May just have to try it and see.
Thank again
