Ants in strawberry beds
« on: June 21, 2013, 08:22 »
Didn't notice this until picking strawberries late yesterday evening.   Some had been nibbled away by ants and as I inspected the plants closer, there are ants everywhere. Is this usual?? Apart from ant powder, what can I do? The plants are growing on mypex so do I need to put straw under the ripening berries as well?
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I have resorted to powder around the area at home as the ants were just too many. Mine came with aphids so something had to be done.

I just put it around the base of my pots and touch wood it seems to have worked well.
