Post by: reggyboy on April 26, 2009, 15:41
I know  these flame guns run on paraffin but with it costing more than petrol these days i was wondering if anybody knows if they will run on petrol?as i have a coleman camping lantern which will run off unleaded petrol.

no, as far as I can remember, it is very dangerous to do so, as it was never intended to use petrol.

DON'T do it, stick to what the manufacturer recommended. >:(

Try kerosene used for heating oil, though starting might be harder than paraffin.

Clean Paraffin fuel only...

Petrol or other fuels must not be used..  The actual words of the manufacturer from the instruction leaflet.

"Dori"

Maybe they do say that. The info I gave still stands. Kerosene (C2 28sec oil) is not very different from Paraffin (C1 oil). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerosene

Petrol is miles different, but then I did not suggest using that.

You might not have mentioned petrol, oldbean, but the original question was whether petrol could be used, hence dorimower's perfectly reasonable post.
