hello! this is my first post on the forum, thanks for checking it out.

as a hen-keeper myself, i'm interested in what other people think makes a hen a good pet. if you have any other ideas that aren't mentioned in the poll, please let me know.

I don't think they make good pets as they are not that easy to keep

I treated mine as pets mind you, but I think to care for them properly does require a lot of input. I'm sure there are easier pets to choose. Mind you the eggs come in very handy

I see our girls both ways, they are, in the end of the day livestock of good use in all senses but they are, as ours are very curious and tame, good pets, too. They come for treats the same way as our giant rabbits and they don't mind my two Little Monsters around, playing with them (by digging for worms and offering to the chooks) and stroking them.

Due to a drainage problem in our garden with the bad soil I took off all fences, anyway, the chicken didn't mind the fence and spending their day with the rabbits instead of free ranging, so at the moment three hens and three giants run towards the backgarden door, soon as I open it in the morning...

I find it difficult in handling them
