On a couple of occasions I have found infestations of ants in my (earlies)potato bags. I have liberally doused the soil with ant powder. Could I use this soil in the compost bin or should it just be tipped into the 'green' waste bin?  Has anybody else had this problem with ants in potato bags?

They usually like somewhere quite dry, so perhaps the bags wanted more regular watering

Yep had 2 big pots full of ants 
I just tipped the pots on a path and got the spuds as quick as i could 
The soil is bone dry as i am just storing the spuds till i eat them.
I wont reuse that compost tho as ants make me itch lol

I wouldn't want ant powder either in the growing / storing location, or in the compost bin.

I have no idea of the specific chemicals in it, but I bet they're not safe to be eaten and won't break down safely in the compost bin.
