Hello All
Hope you are all well. Looking forward to a new season which is on the horizon. Some new fishing ventures for me soon, as i have.....drum roll...bought a beachcaster rod, as well as finding out the local estuary has a good number of autumn bass. So the shooting season proper (Wildfowling season closes on 20th of Feb) has just over a week to go ten lets see how we go.
Cheers. Aled

Bought my 7 year old grandson a rods, reel and box of kit for his birthday last week. :)

All three angling club permits are back and my NRW licence is in place until May the 20th. I've got three new fly lines to put on the reels this week. Season starts on Saturday. Tight Lines. Aled

Plan to try and get out for the first trip of 2023 over the Bank Holiday weekend, the river has had a nice rise so i'm in with a chance.

Hope you have a successful trip Aled.
I've had two visits to the river this season it was cold and the local brown trout were being typically elusive as they are during the early stages of the season.
I will be out on the river over the Easter weekend trying to tempt them.
I've not fished a stillwater yet but may have a go after the holiday rush.
Tight lines here's to a good season for all :)

First trip out with my son, caught no fish but great to be out, and passing on the passion.

Lovely picture, Aled :D

Went out with the double hander looking for a spring salmon, river height was good, but the wind was terrible. After smacking myself on the head with a large tube fly for the 2nd time i gave it best and headed home! Put some new styles on the club water at the weekend. UPDATE for some reason i can't get the style to show the right way up!!
-
We can cope with sideways, Aled :)
You’ve done a grand job with the style !
-
Few nice sea trout caught on my club water last week, one a real beauty of around 12-13lb, not caught by me though!
-
Better luck next time, Aled :D
-
Went out last Saturday, disappointing to note that the algae is back in the rivers, a bit of a spate would be nice now. Tight Lines. Aled

It would be nice if they stoped using our rivers for raw sewage too
-
Caught a few decent browns early Friday morning a couple of them 1.5 - 2lb.
The warmer weather has definitely improved the fly hatches and the river is still carrying a fair flow of water through the better pools but we will need rain soon.
All the fish were taken upstream on walkers mayfly nymph.
Enjoy your fishing everyone :D

It has been the worst season i have ever seen on my home river. I have not caught a sea trout, and i've only seen one jump. My son and I did however catch this 4lb Brown Trout!
-
Cracking browney well done :)
-
Lovely fish, Aled !

Fished twice last week in good conditions, did see 2 sea trout jump but caught none, its been really bad this year. My home river the River Tywi was one of the best sea trout rivers in Europe. Its not any more, i feel as if a part of my life has sadly come to an end.

That’s sad, Aled. :(
Would you put it down to pollution ?

Not a good season this year, actually its been the worse, Hope things improve next year. However i did go to fish Clywedog Reservoir last week and had 5 rainbow trout.
