I'm waiting on the seed company to send mine out. They start shipping mid-May to early June. I'll be putting mine in as soon as they come in the mail, but we're already hitting the 80 degree mark and all chance of frost has passed. I'd imagine it might be later for your climate. They like the heat! 😎

Don't plant them until you're sure we've had the last frosts.

Have you got a greenhouse/ polytunnel, I don't think it's warm enough outside to grow them successfully.

Quote
Sweet potatoes require high temperatures of 21-26C (70-78F), and their long stems need plenty of space as they have a vigorous growth habit. When growing sweet potatoes in the UK, they are best planted in greenhouse borders, polytunnels or under cloches if you live in a cold area. In milder areas they are well worth trying outdoors, planted through a sheet of black polythene to warm the soil and suppress weed growth. Cover them with fleece or plastic cloches - you’ll be amazed the difference that this will make to the temperature.

Widespread ground frost forecast for tonight, possibly even for SE England (4C min forecast for Horsham, colder in the countryside). I suspect if it happens that will be the last frost for this region until the autumn. May be best to wait until at least the bank holiday weekend to err on the safe side.

3 of mine are in the tunnel as they were too big for their pots, the other ones won't be ready for at least a couple of weeks.

i'm hoping the night temp tomorrow night isn't as bad as predicted.
