Nest box Size = 14 x 14 for normal birds, 12x 12 for bantam
They would need 9inches of perch space each at about 1 to 2 foot off the ground - lower for big heavy breeds and higher for lighter breeds
perch Size 3" x 2" they sit on the broad edge

They should be able to fly/jump.

also, the guidelines are 1 box per 7 birds, because they all share it.
and usually at the same time....  ::)

don't forget to round the edges of your perches!

monday mornings are always slow. and i come on if i have a lull in the middle of the day (although the worst bit is when i have to serve whilst i'm typing!!)

I always tell people 1 for up to 5 hens.  7 seems a bit excessive, even though you may get them all trying to get into one box.

Mind you, I did get 6 eggs out of one box when I got home earlier on!  :)

All of mine go in the same nest box, despite me having two for them. They even insist on laying next to my broody madame who then also sits on any extra eggs  ::) 6 of them lay daily and all within an hour so it must get cosy in there!

I have one biggish nest box and all 4 use it.  However, the other day I found one egg in the house just outside the box.  I guess someone in the queue was taken short!
