I'v just been reading about peas (how sad am i).

They are suposed to come up within 15 days, mine have been in pots for 25 days. :?

Just checked them and they are excuse the pun mushy,  they also have a mouldy coating.

All of them are the same so i have started a new lot, any ideas what i did wrong with the first lot so i don't  do the same again.

I'm not so much interested in the peas, more the pods,(PEA POD WINE) MMMMM.

compost too damp would seem to be the answer - I would water in on sowing then let them get a little dry. Water sparingly thereafter.

Might be that your compost was a bit heavy - holding the water. I really rate Humax if you can get it.

If they're fresh seed, it's almost certainly too much water. If you want to check viability, you could soak them for a few hours, then lay them in a seed tray on a wet flannel or kitchen roll to sprout. This will happen in 24-48 hours, and you can then sow the sprouty ones as normal, and discard any that don't show signs of sprouting.

I think i'm going to try supersprouts idea of pre-soaking and laying between kitchen towels.

Think the compost was a bit damp John, but my squashes have come up ok and they where in the same tray :?

The sprouting idea is good as it will tell you if there is a problem with your seed.

Some seeds are better than others at coping with damp etc so the squash may be OK when the peas aren't.
