Which ones should I plant???
« on: March 09, 2007, 23:01 »
I have 44 Arran Pilot earlies chitted and ready for sticking in the dirt....

But only room (at 2 foot between rows/18 inches between plant) for 25
Which ones do I plant and which get composted????

The big 'uns or the little 'uns...or forget the size and go for the ones with the best shoots???

And they go in shoots facing up, right????
You can take a horse to water....but a pencil must be lead!!
(No chemicals ......yet!)

That's my theory anyway.  Arran Pilot is a first early so I'd also be tempted to close up your spacing a little to get an extra drill.  Maybe 15" x 18"?

Like MJ says, stick any others into a bin / bag / whatever.

I always plant my earlies 1' apart. You'll get the majority of them in if you use that spacing & won't have too many left to put in barrels or bin liners.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Pass the unwanted spuds onto another plotholder - there may be a newbie who didn't get round to getting any and will appreciate the gesture  :) Certainly don't bin them though.
