Old butcher friend bought me some flowers once, looked like he'd nicked em off the cemetry. We used to have a good laugh over a cuppa. He loved a bit of gardening, always taking cuttings on his rounds . Swopping tomatoes and pickled onions .He was very fond of a variegated holly growing out of next doors garden. When he died, my son and I went to his funeral and all over the alter was this variegated holly.Cuttings must have taken then. And guess what, M you can eat some flowers. They look lovely in a salad.Or frozen in ice cubes. And the intoxicating smell of lillies in a cool conservatory can be quite exotic.

Put me out of my misery, Muntjac - that's a big area you've got, but pheasants AND sheep too? Surely not on your allotment !!!  Also, having read another of your blogs, want to tell you you're an absolute hero, doing all that hard work after your heart problems - next time I'm temptd to get downhearted - abou the allotment or ANYTHING,  I'll think of you and be inspired. Happy New Year, Jean
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!
