Thermos travel cup/small flask
« on: January 11, 2024, 07:36 »
After years of service my small flask has died a death - it had a glass liner so you can imagine how old it was

Can anyone recommend a flask/travel mug that will keep my coffee hot.  Appearance not important but efficiency is.  Coffee made about 7.30 and drunk between 9.30' and 10.00

I have a thermal travel cup which is all stainless steel and vacuum insulated, keeps coffee or tea hot for hours. It has a tight-fitting clear lid to cover the mug.  The branded version (i.e., expensive) is "Yeti".  There seem to be many imitators, mine is one of those (the imitation is "Gametime Sidekicks"), it seems to work just fine for me at half the cost.

I have an ancient Stanley Thermos (manufacture date 2nd quarter of 1982, see photo). The original cup is long gone, dings, dents and scratches all over, formerly green, no paint remaining.  But, it still works! I recall it being a gift from my parents, about the time I was getting my first "real" job!

On a visit to drop off some books at the charity shop I saw them put out a Stanley drinking cup marked at £2.50, when I got it to the till the lady said we've got another one but it's scratched so it's going in the bin, for £3.50 I've got two Stanley drinking cups.  Result.
