The price here, in Ashford is £7.20 per perch/pole, so about right for a double plot.

An allotment is traditionally measured in rods (perches or poles), an old measurement dating back to Anglo-Saxon times. 10 poles is the accepted size

Perhaps check if there has been a price increase.  Allotment law states that any increase in charges for an allotment cannot be greater than the increase in charges for an other leisure activity in the area.

My rental is around £35 for a standard plot. £146 sounds pretty steep to me!
Keep digging

10 rod plots here are £50 (half price after 65). Half that for half plots. It covers the costs of managing the allotments.

I know the Duke of Northumberland's estate charges £70 for a little over 10 rods. But he provides a shed usually.

Wonder what you get for £146? Yeah a plot. But what is the money spent on? Repairs? Water?

£33 for my plot in Lancashire. Have water provided as well. £146 seems a lot.

We pay £36.18 for a 5 rod plot (including water); Therefore, it would be £144.72 for 20 rods.  We consider it quite reasonable.

£30, plus an extra quid to use the allotment society shop and gardening equipment. It's only gone up by two quid in the last 16 years.

We inherited the Council charging structure when we began managing ourselves in 2019.  That was £64.22 per plot including water and £43.11 for over 60's.  This was regardless of the size of plot, be it full size, half or even a quarter.
We have tweaked that a bit since then.  We now charge £60 for a full size plot - they are all different sizes! £40 for a half size plot, including water.  50% reduction for over 60's.
Council plots are now up to £68

Pretty standard, I think. Approx 30ft by 90ft. Water (from stand pipes) supplied on site.

Just got mine, standard 90x30 ft ish, £40.

ETA: includes water and hasn't gone up from last year (iirc) and the year before, to help people out over the pandemic, was half price.
