Mouldy Fertiliser query
« on: May 04, 2018, 23:31 »
I had a couple of boxes of pelleted fertiliser in the shed which got damp in a roof leak. I opened one and there was mould on the top of the product. It’s dried now and the mould disappeared, but  I wondered if I should just bin it?

I'm not a chemist but I can't see that it will have lost its power. I'd use it as planned.

:D :D :D :D
I was a bit surprised mould was growing on the pellets - usually chemical fertilisers like prilled urea or nitro chalk are pretty harsh for biologicals until diluted - but there you go.

This stuff seems to have an element of organic matter in it, I suspect partially chicken manure

I'd look upon it as a bonus find and use it  ;)
