Tomatoes - good idea or bad idea?
« on: September 12, 2013, 15:55 »
I've still got quite a lot of green tomatoes left on the plants.  Now that the temperatures are cooling down, do you think it would be a good / bad idea to remove the shading in the greenhouse and strip off some more leaves to help them ripen quicker?

thanks

I've stripped off most of the leaves on mine, although I haven't taken the shading off the greenhouse yet, but the toms are in the sunny end of the G/H and the tunnel.

Yes.

plus if no ripe fruit nearby put a Banana skin, or some other ripe fruit, near them (for the Ethylene)

Lots and lots of chutney, well enough for a year!
