Clematis "Elsa Spath" question.
« on: August 22, 2013, 13:36 »

Just relocated our clematis and it seems to prefer where it is now.  However, the first 12-24 inch of the stem appears very fragile as though it is very dry and sections of 'bark' are splitting away from the stem.  Can I cover the lower section of stem with good soil to try and keep the stem moist and possibly promote more root growth?

Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

yes you can!
They really don't mind being planted deeply, and it will help save it, if it ever gets a dose of Clematis Wilt  ;)
