You should be fine doing this now, they'll have plenty of time to get a reasonably good size.

Last year we did two sowings, and they all caught up by the end of the year anyway, although of course, some were smaller!

Best of luck!

I'll be doing mine soon, but not indoors - just a frost free greenhouse.

Too much warmth can give you weak plants.

Leeks my way:

I started mine indoors a few weeks ago and they seem to be doing OK. I have transplanted them as small bunches into plastic cups that I have made a hole in the bottom (drainage) and I get the cups as used ones so they just need a quick wash (mostly only had drinking water in anyway). The cups are sitting in Trashco clear plastic sweater boxes that I bought a few years ago when they were half price. Ideal height and I get 30 cups in each box.
I leave them in these cups in the tray in the cold greenhouse and gradually move them outdoors until they are ready to plant out and so far it has worked for me. Still got some left on the lottie and they have survived the snow and wet so seems to work.  :D
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Mission accomplished!   :)  I did start out with good intentions for 1 per square inch but I think DD must have better eyesight and steadier hands than me so the whole lot went in.... ::)

It was quite a large tray (bigger than a large cat litter tray) and I thought I'd be alright Mum, there didn't seem to be that many seeds....just checked...500!

Imagining DD sitting there with a jewellers loupe and a pair of tweezers now!

You really don't feel like sowing these chaps at the present time do you...

I know that they should be going in, but quite honestly, the weather-vane is waving 'bad' over 'The Turrets;, and we're just not wanting to sow much in trays even...

We're going to wait a couple of weeks...

It's awful round here, isn't it Mum!

Even the dog is a pain in the bum, and won't go anywhere because it's just dire outside!

Mrs Growster found some old sheepskin slippers today, and has been parading these, much to fedupness...
