Post by: Plottered on May 14, 2011, 15:37
Does anyone know of an easy to use Garden design software (possibly free) Im involved with a Community garden and we are bidding for some funding to build a seating come bbq meeting area and want to make up plans as to how it will look for a presentation.

thanks

Google SketchUp is a cracking piece of free software provided by Google, I've used it for every project I've built in the garden, sheds, tables, planters, coldframes and my next one for the summer a big long pergola walkway.

It's very easy to get to grips with, I'd advise following the tutorials first and then just having a go until you get the hang of it.

Alternatively, I quite like just drawing stuff on it, so if you tell me the dimensions etc. I wouldn't mind drawing something out for you in me spare time!

a few years ago I bought an Alan Titchmarsh CD to do this but I never did get round to using it properly but it looked really good and was easy to use and to plan spaces of all different shapes and sizes.  I only have one copy, but if you would like it you can have it for nowt cos I just don't use it.

PM me your address if you want it and I'll get it out to you as soon as I find it, but I have just moved house and everything is still in boxes so it will take alittle while (poss a few weeks) to find it.
