Post by: grinling on May 24, 2015, 17:27
anted some hatching eggs in a different colour to my others, so after 2 let downs, contacted Stuart from Cluck and Crow  on the chickens and poultry link and now have 7 eggs under Roberta and 5 under HaganDas, both very contented.
Eggs are autosexing.

Now come on grinling, you know we need an explanation ;)

Glad to hear the website got you a good supplier and that both ladies are now settled and contented  :D

HaganDas isn't mine but the BIL. Bought 12 and didn't think I would get them all under Roberta, who used to be owned by BIL.
I think HaganDas was named by niece, but this will be her 1st time hatching eggs

Its when the chicks look different nerdle, so you can pick out the boys from the girls by their colour or markings, even at a day old  :)

Hagan Das got her name as they named the boys Ben and Jerry, but the hens have swapped and Abby is on them now. Roberta is sitting on greenyblue eggs, whereas Abby on a mixture. Will sell ones I do not want.

Using Hagan Das, to keep eggs warm

Not sure I'm brave enough to grow from chicks, or even hatch eggs.  Saw some hatch at a childrens nursery some years ago, lovelly, but a bit pongy, especially indoors. My OH says my hobies take up too much room in any case ::)
