I kinda neglected my garden after may last year,  I'm starting to notice it again, there is growth and life happening and I expect things need attention again and I'm wondering what to do first, I have standard (but not standard shape) roses and 7 foot tall unsecured climbing roses (in the wind there becoming rather dangerous), and sticky like hardy fuchsias, honeysuckle with blue ball things (buds/flowers, no idea), a rather dead looking Clematis, primroses although somethings eaten the flowers already, a very woody looking lavender,  and a spindley blackcurrent bush, the honeysuckle and clematis I've never seen flower so don't know what they should normally look like. I know some of these need pruning or did need pruning, I manured the roses today so made a start and found some hidden snowdrops under the hedge which was lovely..

Please prune those roses -- they will thank you for it by flowering well, especially after a good feed 

The blue ball things on the honeysuckle are likely to be last year's berries: I have one with small black berries and some with red --blue sounds good. Just cut off anything in the way: it won't mind at all.

The clematis will come back to life and as you don't know what sort it is I would leave it alone.

You can cut the lavender back lightly, but not down into the woody bit as it won't regrow.

And the blackcurrant will need a feed (Blood fish & bone is good) and if there are dark blackish branches cut them right out: other than that leave it be.

My heart gos out to all those who's gardens and allotments are under water at the moment, I know it would break my heart to watch that happen to all my plants and hard work.
