The first photo in the write up is PAncho, a Spanish MAstin, he has leishmania, but is well and on medication.  The small dog in the photo is Pantoja.
The 2nd photo is shy Shannon, her brother is in another refuge, getting ready for a new home in Manchester.
The 3rd is Rogelia
4th foto is one of the pups who were born in a rabbit hole- there were 7 of them!  Monsters!!! We still have 6
5th Lola, she arrived pregnant and gave birth to 2 pups, who look like they have īsausage dogī in their genes, so they were named Salchi and Morci (after sausages) sadly Salchi died of distemper
6th photo is Rubia, she is a Labrador with very short legs, she loves to play, all day if she can!
7th photo is one of our Podenco dogs, I cannot remember her name!
8th is Eli, a volunteer, along with Gilda, a podenco/galgo (type of greyhound) cross.  SHe has gone to another refuge, where they specialise in Galgo types mostly.  She is with Shannons brother Peluso.
9th-  Nani, she was thrown over the fence one day, along with her 4  gorgeous puppies, the pups were just days old.  They were all put over the fence when the dogs were out, so it was a wonder there was not trouble! Nani herself is just about a year old.
Finally, Pelli, the Jack Russel cross type we are looking after here, who I hope will go to another foster home very soon, as we canīt keep her! She is only going to be a small dog, like our Lola.

Some Podenco dogs do have big ears! They remind me of dogs pictured in Egyptian tombs.
At home we have 5 dogs, plus Pelli, who cannot stay!!  I only had 2 dogs before I went to the refuge!!  It is ok on a day like today, but on a damp day the house gets very wet dog smell
Our oldest dog is Lola, we got her after our dog was killed, she was a refuge dog, she is aprox 9 years old, they then go 6 years, aprox 3-4 years, 2-3 years, 18 months and the pup 4 months!!

I seem to be the opposite to most of you and much prefer and trust large and giant breed dogs, I find smaller dogs to be a bit nippy.
I did go out yesterday to visit a dog rescue with a few supplies and got told about two possible rescues - one a Neapolitan Mastiff and the other a Great Dane so we might be also adding one of these to our household  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Just had some bad news, the dog in photo 7 with the big ears, the Podenco, she and another dog, a small bodeguero dog, have dug under the fence and escaped   I hope they find their way back to the refuge!

I like the big breeds too Joy, the most chilled out pup (apart from Pip) I've ever met, was a 16 week old Great Dane, totally unflappable, even with 4 ferrets climbing all over him :)

Not refuge news but nasty all the  same....
We were driving into town yesterday morning and a Podenco dog (like the photo of the dog sitting in the wheel barrow in the newspaper article)  was trotting along the other side of the road, close to the edge. We slowed down and a big 4wd came towards us, it had ībull barsīon the front, the driver must have seen the dog, it was a straight bit of road- we drove on and the car went past us.  I looked in my side mirror and was horrified to see the car aim at the dog and the little dog flew into the air. The car made so sign of slowing down, breaking or driving around the poor dog    We could not stop as we were off to the Dr for an appointment.  On the way home we were going to stop to move the dog off the road, but it was too much of a mess. We had to go back into town later on and by then the remains had been moved from the road.
I canīt begin to say how shocked we were, and if I were to write what I said about the driver I would be banned for life. Hopefully the dog died fast.   We often see dead dogs in the road, but to actually see a dog run down on purpose was horrifying >:(

Poor thing! There are some real bar-stewards in this world aren't there? I hope it was all over really quickly and it didn't suffer at all.  Whatever it was that you would like to have done to the driver, I would have gladly helped you.

P.S. to Joyfull - love your Ols!
