this is one of my new guinea fowl - unfortunatly it has become rather attached to one of the hens so is proving rather aggressive if we get to close to her  :(

Thought you might like to see my girls, all from the Battery Hen Welfare Trust, one is soon after they arrived, the other in the recent snow. Thank goodness for poultry spice and cod liver oil to help them get feathered up enough to cope, or I think I might have been knitting  ;)

Well done - they were in better condition than many poor rescue hens are when they arrive.

You should enter that first one into the poultry newsletter competition, Missie. I'd be amazed if it didn't get a place at least  :)

Thank you John,
Where do I enter :)

if you go back to johns post and click on the newsletter competition wording that should take you to the joining page. Sign up and then Cara will send you an email where you will more than likely find details about the photo comp  :D

Here's some pictures of my girls that I collected 2 weeks ago. Ruby and Poppy (rhode island reds), were unfortunately underweight and had many feathers missing but they have filled out and there feathers are starting to come through.  Although very nervous when they first arrived, they will now eat out of my hand and Ruby likes to get lifted for a cuddle.  Natalie (black rock) has been the biggest sook ever from day one and is my shadow, follows me everywhere and is a bit of an attention seeker.  Penny (light sussex)seems to be very fussy, everything is on her terms. Comes across as a bit of a snob but Im sure its all an act.   All fantastic birds, and all great characters.  :D

I'd be grateful for any tips you can give me as new keeper.  Thanks x

Rare breed Spangled Orloff bantam chx now 13 weeks old.  I'm still looking for good homes for the boys.  They are lovely active little birds quite bold and tame.  The others are VW chx of the same age.
