Ok here it goes, I hope the fact that I keep my birds in stout enclosures doesn't offend anyone but we have lots of predators here. Opossums, Skunks, Coyotes, Racoons stray Dogs and feral Cats. And from the air we have about four types of Hawks and at least three kinds of Owls but out in the country there are not any Fox. the Coyotes eat 'em. The first pic is of some replacement hens that were raised from the layer flock.

This pic is of my only free range bird, a Silver Phoenix rooster that is also this year's hatch.

Here is our Black Naked Neck hen at a poultry show in Guthrie Ok last year. reserve champion in her class!

This is a broody hen with a clutch, all of the chicks are half Malay and that broody is supreme meanness when she has chicks. I was 20 feet away or about 6? meters that is if a meter is 39 inches LOL and she was fluffing up getting ready to attack. All other times she is docile though.

And last but not least here in me holding a Black Jersey Giant cockerel that I had just bought.

Wow you have some nice birds nnbreeder.  I am not to sure about the Naked Neck but the Jersey looks amazing what are the eggs like from the hens, are they a meat or egg bird?  Would be great if you could let us know a bit more about them.
Stuart

Now the Jersey Giant that I'm holding was about 6mo old in that pic and weighed close to 7 kilograms or 15 pounds. He topped out at 18 pounds. The hens are roughly 10 pounds or 4 1/2 kilograms at full maturity. The hens lay large brown eggs and will only go broody every now and then. They are classed as a dual purpose bird for both meat and eggs and they are slow maturing. Now as with all very big breeds they are prone to heart problems and I have actually seen one that the comb turned blue and it just fell over dead, found an enlarged heart at the necropsy. They forage well and are friendly and loaded with personality.

Shes certainly a friendly little thing, she had no fear about coming up to us even though we are strangers
My DS loved her, and was bugging me to get a chicken when we left, he held the eggs Stuart gave him like they were made of gold and declared the scrambled eggs he made from them  "the best ever, see? we need to get a chicken mum"  :D
