I have been contacted by the little hen rescue -they have a lot of ex-free range hens (amberlinks) available for a £1.00 each and are only 60weeks old:D

60 weeks Foxy?  That's a bit early to be getting rid of amberlinks.  A lot of the new hybrids now they are saying will lay decent eggs up to 80 weeks old rather than the old 72 weeks.

Poor things.  I can't have any, as I've got my new little Babcocks in the brooder now for spring POL.

Thats what I thought  I know a lot of farmers are keeping them a bit longer these days -a lot of rehoming in Nov/Dec was cancelled because the farmers were going to hold on until January.
I think they have about 200 amberlinks at the mo, would love some myself if I was a bit closer.

I got 5 yesterday they are so sweet... a bit tatty with some baldy bottoms but all in good health. They are £1.50 each

I'm a first timer and thought I would try rescue some birds first before getting other breeds.
