We have a small collection of different breeds that we've had in two installments from the Wernlas Collection. We've really enjoyed having an interesting mixture of hens as well as doing our bit to support rare breeds such as the black leghorn - beautiful plumage, plentiful and lovely eggs but daft as a brush.

We are looking to expand our little flock in the spring but to our dismay, the lovely people at Wernlas are retiring and selling everything.

Could anyone recommend anywhere in the West Midlands for rare breeds? We live in Birmingham but are happy to have a day out. Has anyone bought hens from the Domestic Fowl Trust near Evesham?
