Good Luck to Karl and all the other Chook keepers Too many to mention by name. I realise this is serious but the media make it sound like the end of the world.

Godd Luck to you all and hang in there

Cats are suscepitble and probably caught it from catching / eating birds.

I keep hearing mention of Hungary and then it clams up - I reckon the gov doesn't want to make waves.

mmm ... I agree its all awful, but lets try and keep it in proportion the people most likely to suffer are people like Karl whos livelyhoods are directly affected.

I think panic tactics, do not help,   give the media a new focus and it  turns the nation away from the real tragedies in this world.

keep smiling friends

I understand the anger and worry for your birds.   I remember clearly a few years ago the 'foot and mouth' thing.... What a to do getting on and off the farm.  Disinfect the cars, our feet, dont move the livestock etc.   But the thing i wont forget is November 5th at a bonfire party.... i lost one of my daughters and found her asleep in the hay next to her pony.... when i gently woke her she said " mummy I came to protect my Lulu in case the people on the TV came to take her when the firework noise was happening!!!

Out of the mouths of babes.....

it all comes down to how animals/birds are looked after in terms of cleanleness (bad spelling?) it probably  we should be more careful about where our food comes from, all this travelling is bound to spread disease.
as a veggie i feel heart broken for the poor birds at least they haven't got to go through the transportation to the slaughter house.

Well with BMs place there was lots of talk about bio-security. But any system is only as good as the people who follow it.
Wasn't it BM where they did those people for playing baseball with live turkeys? Obviously a professional, disciplined workforce.
