Hens are like small children Cati - they are only as fussy as they are allowed to be.

Do your hens have shelter from the sun in their run  :?:

That just tells me they are not getting too hot Cati.  When hens get over heated they drink a lot or water too cool down and there's only one way out of the hen for the excess water

They WILL start eating their layers in a day or two if you give them nothing else !

You doing great Cati.  Let us know how they get on and if just eating pellets (and a few greens) sorts their poo out.

But if they stop being fit ad well and have any problem breathing or they are coughing they might need to see the vet for some antibiotics, so keep an eye out for that  :!:

Do you mean they are sneezing a lot ?  Have you had them ever since they were chicks then ?

Keep up the only pellets feeding for a few more days and let us know how they are.

Aunty'll probably tell you for sure, Cati, but I think hay harbours fungal spores and can get mouldy - which could be what's making them sneeze.  Straw is better.

Lovely to have you on the forum BTW - I'm enjoying all your questions!  Are your birds asleep on top of their house again tonight?
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!

Hi Cati, you will need to replace the hay with dust extracted straw -available from pet shops and animal feed places. Hay can cause rispiratory problems. As a base woodshavings is a good idea!
